Come and join in the fun!  Using our moto of 'Healthy Eating with a bit of a treat' this is where we started all those years ago. Classes are designed especially for children interested in cooking, who want to learn new skills and have fun cooking together. Thursday Afterschool Cookery Club 

2 hours of cooking fun for of all abilities children from ages 5-14. 

We have been successful in bidding for fully funded spaces on our Summer Holiday classes.  They are offered as part of  the Oldham HAF program and, as such, are ONLY open to children living or at school in Oldham who are in receipt of benefit related free school meals.

This year we will be basing our session on classic take away dishes, but giving them a bit of a healthy twist.  In each session children will make a variety of dishes from the chosen theme.  These will include a mid morning snack, lunch and dishes to take home and share.

All ingredients and take away containers are provided.

To qualify for the free classes, before attending the class we will require the following information:
Full name of child
Date of Birth
Home postcode
School Attended

This information will only be shared with the Oldham HAF team, who provide the funded places.

Children attending via the HAF program will receive exactly the same class with snacks, drinks and lunch provided and will also make food to take home and share.
If they have friends attending who they would like to work  with, please let us know.  Children attending on their own are also  welcome and will soon make friends and be supported by our great staff!

We can provide a few funded spaces for children with an EHP (educational health plan), please contact us to discuss this.

Join us for a full day learning how to make some of your favourite take away foods, getting all of the flavour and giving understanding how to keep them healthy.
In this class you will be making a selection of dishes inspired by the host of Kebab shop and street food stalls.

We start the ay making marinades for our meat and vegetable kebabs.  You will then make a nice little fruit kebab for morning snack, 
Lunch will be a mixed meat and vegetable kebab (you can choose your favourites) served on your home made flatbread with as much (or little) salad as you like.
Whilst lunch is cooking you will make your own Donner style kebab, which will be cooking whilst you eat.
After lunch you will make a selection of kebabs and salads to take home to share.

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided.  Lunch will be made during the session.

School Holiday Full Day – Kebab Shop Fake-Away

Join us for a full day learning how to make some of your favourite take away foods, getting all of the flavour and giving understanding how to keep them healthy.
In this class you will be making a selection of dishes inspired by a trip to your favourite fish and chip shop.

Beans are a great chip shop 'side dish' but also good for breakfast so we will start the day making our fantastic home made beans.  These can then be eaten as a morning snack on toast (with our home made bread of course!)  We know some will prefer to take their beans home and just eat toast - and that's fine by us!
We will then shape muffins , perfect for a  'chip butty'.  Whilst these are proving we will get to grips with a few fish dishes - classic breaded fish, mini battered fish, and fishcakes.  We will also make a few fritters and chicken strips (which we know will go down well with everyone, including those who are not too keen on fish).
A bit of time will then be spent cutting the perfect chip (chunky, crinkle cut or fries), which will be eaten with lunch.
After lunch we will spend time creating some great side dishes including mushy peas, ketchup, curry sauce, tartar sauce and, if we have time, home made mayonnaise

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided.  Lunch will be made during the session.




School Holiday Full Day – Chip Shop Fake-Away

Join us for a full day learning how to make some of your favourite take away foods, getting all of the flavour and giving understanding how to keep them healthy.
In this class you will be making a selection of dishes inspired by a trip to your favourite curry take away.

Starting by making fruity samosas to eat as a mid morning snack (you will also practice folding samosas for later).

We will then make up your chosen curry paste, which will be used for your own curry to take home.  
For lunch we will work in groups to make a biriani (there might even be some left to take home and share).

After lunch we will spend time making your own choice of curry, naan bread and sides to take home.  

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided.  Lunch will be made during the session.




School Holiday Full Day – Curry Fake-Away

In this class you will be making a selection of dishes inspired by a trip to your favourite Japanese restaurant and take away.

We will start the day making a sushi (you can make it as plain or adventurous as you want!), this will be eaten as a mid morning snack and there should be some to take home and share.

We will then work as a group to make ice cream for our coconut reika ice cream (which should be ready to serve after lunch).

For lunch we will make katsu curry with sticky steamed rice.

After lunch we will spend time making a ramen bowl , a kokoro bowl and a kimchi styled side dish to take home and share.  

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided.  Lunch will be made during the session.




School Holiday Full Day – Japanese Fake-Away

Join us for a full day learning how to make some of your favourite take away foods, getting all of the flavour and giving understanding how to keep them healthy.
In this class you will be making a selection of dishes inspired by a trip to your favourite burger take away.

Starting by making the dough for your own burger buns , we will use a little of the dough to make a cinnamon roll to eat as a mid morning snack.

We will then show you hw to make a range of classic burgers (beef, chicken, fish and beanburger) and you can choose which to make for your lunch.  We will also make a few chips in the oven and air fryer, including pollenta fries and halloumi fries.

After lunch we will spend time making a selection of side dishes, including mac 'n' cheese bites, chilli cheese bites, onion rings and hash browns.

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

Children will bring home a couple of home made burger buns, lots of sides and  a couple of their own made spicy bean burgers.

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided.  Lunch will be made during the session.




School Holiday Full Day – Burger Fake Away

A full day course for all prospective and current students. Enjoy learning how to feed yourself healthy, low cost meals. Whatever your cookery skills, we will have you making a variety of exciting dishes.

In this full day class you will learn how to cook a range of dishes, mainly healthy but with a few treats along the way. We cover basic food safety and give you confidence when buying, preparing and storing ingredients.

During the day you will make main meals for a full week and leave with recipes and a shopping list (which is perfect is someone wants to treat you to an on line delivery). You will also receive a 'goody bag' providing a few essentials to get you going.

This class is suitable for absolute beginners but will also help more confident cooks develop their range of skills. All dishes can be adapted for specific dietary requirements, subject to prior notice.

Get Ready For University - Cooking Class

A full day course to give you the skills to survive in your own kitchen

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence in the kitchen.
you will not only leave with plenty of hints and tips, but also some great food to enjoy at home.
Book individual sessions, or make the most of our 'discount block', when booking over 5 sessions.

Adult's Cookery Club

Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. Anyone keen to improve their cooking skills, please attend a class here - it’s brilliant 👍👍👍

Total cost for the party is £230 for up to 10 children + £15 per additional child.

We can supply a Birthday Cake and party bags (please contact us to discuss this) or you can bring your own.
Parties can be provided for all ages and abilities and we do ask that, for younger children, parents stay to join in the fun.  For older children we ask that at least one adult remains at the party and are happy for parents to stay if they prefer.  Tea and coffee making facilities are available for adults and older teens.

Starting by shaping buns for their burger, we will make a few small knot rolls to eat as a mid morning snack.

We will then make up our Saddleworth Secret Spice mix to give the great chicken shop flavour.  This will be used to make a few chicken pieces, chicken strips or a chicken burger for lunch.  We will also make a few chips in the oven and air fryer.

After lunch we will spend time making a rice box and a few sides to take home.  We might even have a little time to make some ice cream for dessert (although we can't imagine this making it home).

In our 'Fake Away' sessions we will be looking at ways to make our dishes a little more healthy (but you don't have to tell the children this until they have enjoyed the food).

Children will bring home a Chicken rice box, popcorn chicken, chicken strips, corn on the cob, homemade beans, special gravy and plenty of 'secret spice mix' to use whenever they next want to spice up their chicken.
